135 Brakes on e46 m3, Rear Caliper fitment

Hey everyone,

I recently installed the 135i calipers on my e46 m3, all 4 calipers were installed,

fronts were installed with csl rotors, rally road stainless lines and reboot engineering caliper mount, no issues there looks and works great.

My issue is the fitment with the rear calipers, I installed them also with new e46 m3 csl rotors, modified the dust shield to fit the caliper but the caliper doesn't reach the full diameter of the rotor, leaving a rust ring to develop on the inside edge of the caliper. Wondering if there is a different pad I can run in the rear or how others have solved this issue

thanks!

If it was just aesthetic I wouldnt mind, but I noticed some cracking of the pad near the edge that contacts the rust, also im starting to get road noise/squealling when on the brakes as well. I plan to change to a different compound but before I do, i wanted to see if there is an option to address this issue properly

Thanks!

It's quite common for a pad not to reach the outer diameter, or the inner diameter on discs - most often inner is common. It's not an issue and these remaining surfaces are knocked down if the rotors are turned periodically during the operational life. I personally don't have them turned, but

I agree to a certain extent...the OEM front and rear rotors on my E46 03 M3 are slightly larger in diameter than the pad(s) and the pads clear the hub by about a ÂĽ". The OPs pic, however, appears beyond normal engineering practice...the rotor looks like it should be about an inch larger in diameter to fully engage the pad. Back to incorrect rotor size and caliper bracket design...the caliper in the picture looks like only half of the caliper piston is utilized.
