Hey community i was wondering if any one had a link as to where i could get a new cowl cover replacement … mine is old and chipped away so i covered the gap with tape after disassembling it to clean out leaves and debris under the cowl … tired of looking at the tape and want to get a new one .. i have the 2003 330xi if that make a difference from the other models and was hoping to find a replacement under 50$

Finding one isn't hard. ECS Tuning, FCP Euro, Bimmerworld, Pelican Parts, or the dealership are all viable options. Finding one for under $50 you probably need to find a good condition used one, though. New will cost you about double that. Shipping a used one can be cost prohibitive, though, as it's large and kind of an odd shape.

yeah that’s a Genuine BMW part and I have no idea where you’d find it for anywhere near $50.

did learn something new.
sedan and convertible use this same part while the coupe uses a different part number (than convertibles).
going to guess with the A-pillar reinforcement on convertibles it changes the fitment there like sedans :dunno:

i do not think that is correct. sedan/touring different from coupe/convertibles. at least thats how my PFL coupe/convertibles are.

Take my advice and purchase a $10 puller to get the wipers off. I did this repair back in 2015 and didn't have a puller and used a crowbar to pry off the wipers and even though I was careful, I still cracked my windshield and had to get it replaced.
Only required if someone has had the wipers off and over torqued the wiper arms in the past. Likely due to a windshield replacement. If still as originally installed simply raise the wiper arms and give a wiggle.

as much as I hate vinyl wrapping/cf look vinyl wrapping. i always thought this part might be wrapped and given more life.

The main problem seems to be the rubber seal against the windshield. MK3 VWs suffer the same problem and I've seen mentions of simply replacing the rubber. I'll have to dig and see if I can find more info.

Maybe something like this?

the cowl is cosmetic. it doesn’t seal the glass. although it does direct water.
