Ok guys I’ve looked for this answer but I’m getting different stuff.

So I have a 318ci and it’s on style 73 wheels with a bore of 72.56.
I’m looking to get style 32 17 inch with the back at 9js and front at 8js and has a bore of 74.1
My question is will they fit my e46?
Do I need to role the fenders?
Or do I need a set of spigot rings?
Thanks

Yes and yes. You will need to run adapters to reduce hub bore from 74.1mm to 72.56mm. You will also most likely need to roll your rear fenders, make sure to grind out all the liner and then roll and shave the bumper bracket.

What suspension do you have?
E39 wheels are very low offset. Over 20/25mm lower than E46 wheels. Meaning it'll push your wheel out 20mm out from the wheel hub.

I have Eibach springs all round with Sachs m sport shocks.
I would hate to need to role the fender cause if I have to then I will not buy the wheels tbh, but I think u have to with the 18 inch but i don’t think u need to with the 17s but not 100%

It's the offset, not the diameter, that pushes the tire out into the fender or sucks it in to hit the suspension.
Combined with width and tire profile, of course.

Usually annotated e or ET with 2 digits indicating millimeters inset, or how much the centerline of the rim is
moved inward towards the center of the car.

It's more of the offset plus wheel width you'd have consider. Between an 18 and a 17 you have same overall tire diameter. So a 17 has taller sidewall than an 18. Hence why you would have a 255/40R17 as opposed to a 255/35r18.

These are the types sizes that I get with the wheels, believe it’s stock size tyres

E39 fitment style 32s are ET 20 front and ET 26 rear. E46 fitments are usually in the 40s. I'm on 18x9 ET30 square and the fronts poke a bit and I had to roll the rears of my touring to keep the rub to only big bumps. You have a bit more room in the back of your coupe, but then you're also getting 4mm less offset and running 10mm wider tires than I am.
There's a very high likelihood that you'll rub if you don't roll the fenders.
