I just started to do an oil change today and for the life of me can't find the drain plug. Am I better off buying an oil extractor, I don't really want to take off all of the plastic underneath to get to the plug. Is there any tips on how to access the drain plug easily??

You need to remove that plastic panel under the engine. 3 screws on the front, two on the back (if i remember right) The drain plug is on the passenger SIDE of the oil pan (the rectangular ~5"x10") plate on the bottom on the car.

Don't feel bad, I couldn't find mine at first either. :)

Make sure you have 8 Quarts of oil, either Mobil 1 0W40 or the OEM BMW stuff first. I use the BMW stuff, its cheaper anyhow. DO NOT ASK A QUESTION ABOUT OIL TYPE, use the search box ;)

Drain your oil with the plug, dont mess with the extractor tool.
