I decided to post this topic because, despite the innumerable previous discussions on the general topic, I couldn’t find anything on my specific situation. It’s time to change my oil again and I’ve thought about taking advantage of FCP Euro’s lifetime warranty (along with PayPal’s return...

Friends, I want to change the oil at home with a jack myself. but there is no jacking point in front of the car. is it possible to change it by removing it from the right or left? Or the easier way is if I pull it from the dipstick with the pump is it okay? Note; the car is a little close to the...

I'm coming up on 6 months of ownership of my 325i and it's been great, but the oil service light continues to tick down, right now it's at about 4000. I've read some places with high mileage e46's you should change it every 4500, and I've also read you can wait for the full 9000 miles. So I'm...

Hi guys, I thought this would still be relevant to those that have an M54 powered car. Even though this video is on an E39, it's literally the same process as the E46. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QebbwfWBL5I

Hello all, most people probably know how to change their own oil. That didn't stop me from making a DIY video. This was done on an E39 530i, but the procedure is virtually identical to the E46. You can view it here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QebbwfWBL5I

All, Just heard about this Oil fortifier from SFR. Now other way to describe it...it makes that famous bearing test look silly. My question is does anyone have experience with this in their motor? Tampa Nate

I was driving on a highway where gas stations where few and far in betwee. My oil light (yellow) showed up and I made the first stop possible to top off my oil. Only one I found was "Castrol 10w-30 part synthetic" and my car had a recent oil change with "Castrol 10w-30 Full synthetic". Is the...

So I have a 2001 330i and I've had an intermittent Check Engine Light for a couple of months now. I had a local part store scan the car when it first came on and it came up with a code the lead me to the exhaust camshaft position sensor. After a couple of starts the light went out...as it...

Does anybody know a good mechanic in the LA westside area? I'm in Culver City now after driving my 1999 323i from NY for work. It made the trip, but isn't doing so hot. Needs an oil change at the very least, but it burned over 1qt of oil in the past 2k miles, so there's something else going on...

So I'm not sure what's really happening, but ever since, I would say ~7 months ago, my car has been gobbling oil like no tomorrow. It's not leaking, at least, it's not leaking anywhere that I can see. I took off the splash guard to ensure if it was leaking it would fall onto some cardboard in...

I just started to do an oil change today and for the life of me can't find the drain plug. Am I better off buying an oil extractor, I don't really want to take off all of the plastic underneath to get to the plug. Is there any tips on how to access the drain plug easily??

I know this has been posted about a million times, but I finally found a site that has a video of how to do this that makes it SUPER EASY to reset your oil service indicator light on your 3 series. Here's the link from www.blogworthy.net...
