Key battery is only used for remote lock/unlock. Transponder for starting the car is a passive system which doesn't need a battery.

Since starter is working, I think your issue is the rolling key sync between your key and the EWS. Can be resynced with INPA, you can search for a DIY on that.

I ordered the cable and got the INPA downloaded per @Bali's forum post on installation. When the cable comes in I will perform the synch and update y’all. I am very appreciative for the help!

 

Even if the DME/EWS synch does not fix your specific no start problem, INPA is a very useful tool for diagnosing. Being able to read error codes, view live data, and run tests is so helpful.

 

I got the cable in and got it hooked up. The code I have is this.
27A4: interface EWS 3.3 DME no signal or value

 

When i use the ews sync thing it says edibas error 19 i tried switching the port over to see if that helped then it said ecu rejected

 

Software is not correctly set up or cable is bad.

Does your other key start the car okay?

When i turn the ignition I get full power to dash but wont roll it over.

When I turn on the ignition the starter remains interlocked and will not crank over. If i cross the two large wires on the ews I can get the starter to engage but not the fuel or spark.

 

Is key at position 2 when running INPA?
Can you connect to any other control modules, such as instrument cluster?

 

Yes key is in position 2 and yes i can currently in the first menu for the instrument cluster

 

My EWS error codes are:

• 21 sporadic error
• 25 sporadic error 81 Key No.5 invalid due to incorrect password Error frequency
• 31 static error 80 Key No.5 invalid due to incorrect identification Error frequency
• 83 WC tolerance increased for key number 5 Error frequency

 

I’m looking at the actual key info page on the EWS module and my key number keeps changing randomly.

Try again with the key board 10 feet away from the key and see if the INPA key number screen shows a different key number.

I had to go in and cool off for a bit its 102 here right now ima go back out there in about an hour or 2 and I will test this

If it no longer ans the call, then maybe the antenna coil around the lock is broken and failed to send and receive the RF signal to the transponder.

Yes, the ring antenna -- check to make sure its not open and the 2 wires connected to the EWS module.

 

By open do you mean that plastic piece will come off and expose the coil thats inside the ring antenna?

 

So the antenna coil measured resistance was 5 ohms engine off, and changed to -118 ohms (negative 118) with engine running? Impossible unless the antenna was still connected to EWS. It should be disconnected to measure the resistance. I'm confused.

 

Not with it running the starter wont even engage let alone crank the engine right now and but i did not know to disconnect it to measure the resistance ill disconnect it and then check it again tonight. This was in key position 2

My starter is only working if i bypass the starter immobilizer on the ews connector by connecting the two big wires together

 

I bought a key and it started right up

 

Then the transponder chip in the old key no longer working.
