e46 323ci cruise control?

so i just bought a bmw e46 323ci from 1999 imported from Belgium and it did not come with cruise control i have read a little about it and from what i can find you only need to replace the steering wheel with one from a car that had cruise control is it really true that the wiring is already there even if the car did not come with it

I fitted cruise control to a 2000 323i. Used a Z4 cruise control stalk rather than a steering wheel as I didn't want to mess around with airbags. The cruise control wiring was not in the car. I had to wire it all in, right through to the DME.
