I cant find a solid answer.

My mechanic tells me i need a new one cuz the DMF cant be resurfaced, HOWEVER, my question is do I need a new one? or i can use the old one...

He already has the car taken apart, so i can have him look at it.

I ordered a new one, but now im wondering if i really needed to or if i should send it back.

I didnt replace mine at 120k and it ate the new organic clutch in 7 months.

then i had to get both a flywheel and new clutch

OEM or lighten flywheel if you can deal with bog gear lash noises.

Didn't replace mine and I get clutch chatter now. Not sure if the 6-speed flywheel is the same as the 5spd but I know for the 5spd autozone carries the OEM sachs dual mass flywheel way cheaper than the dealer.

Apparently you are not supposed to resurface the dual mass flywheel. I've heard of people doing it with no issues, but personally I'd risk doing nothing over resurfacing. If your paying someone to do the job just get a new flywheel. I do the work myself so it was a matter of whether it was worth $300 for the possibility of having to redo the job later. I took the risk and it backfired, but then again a little clutch chatter isn't a huge deal.

It might be worth to change ur flywheel as well coz if the current one is scarred, worped or has stess cracks will ruin ur new clutch real fast. I would have the mechanic look at it really carefull and tell u rether its needed or not but IMO i'd put in the new plate. GL man

i took a look at the flywhile and its pretty scarred and burnt.... so yeah. it needs the new one. HAHA

I just went oem, cuz i had already bought the oem clutch. Kinda wish i bought a UUC kit now, but i had to get the job done within 2 days... the OEM isnt bad tho so im not gonna complain. i know it'll work.

I live in a smaller town with alot of retirees and this is the only shop that they will take thier ferrari's, lamborghini's, mercedes and bmws. So at least i know im gonna get a good job done on the replacement. Otherwise the dealership is an hour away from me.

Bought my clutch from Turner Motorsports and the Flywheel from Pelican Parts
