2003 325i BMW 4dr. Automatic

Looked at some links provided by some posts here and even more confused now. Any help in identifying exact transmission would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Found out from dealer that I have the GM A5S360R trany.

 

Post #1 in this thread shows the auto trans manufacturer and model number by year and model E46.

I have an 01/03 325i an it definitely has the GM tranny

 

Unless OP’s 02/2003 325i has the M56 SULEV engine - they all got the ZF - he has the GM.

RealOEM.com and the last 7 digits of the VIN - just match up the transmission with what you have and see the manufacturer. RealOEM will probavbly list the manual, SMG, and automatic and you look at the one you have

 

The easiest and surest way to tell which transmission is in your car is to look at the transmission fluid pan. If the it’s ribbed the transmission was made by ZF. If the sides are smooth sides it’s a GM.
