Does anyone have any recommendations of where to get the butyl tape for the water barrier on the doors? No one has it at the local parts stores, I’m having trouble finding it online. Real oem doesn’t show a part number. Fcp is showing me the short piece that goes on the center support bearing. Ecs has a few but they don’t give dimensions on how long it is. Looks like anything that may work from ecs tuning is backordered.
Any help is much appreciated!

You can buy whatever it is easier. Then tear one piece and heat it with wife's blow dryer and as it gets soft, start applying it by perimeter stretching it and creating more or less even line, 5-7mm will be enough, Surfaces have to be clean and dry. If it is still warm weather it works well this way. If door is cold, you might need to heat it up - something like 40 C will be enough. If you gonna use heat gun, do not heat liner, just metal. I assume you have liner still in place? Then it is easier, as you do a section a time, heat butyl, press liner to it and distribute pressure to seal it properly, then move tfurther. Replaced mine this way a month ago, took me 15 min a door.

Yes the liner is still in place but leaking. The old tape was still there but just not sticky. The entire length of the bottom and 1/4 way up the sides where not stuck to the barrier. Since the parts stores didn’t have any I used a heat gun and reheated it, worked it around a bit and pressed the barrier to it. Tested it for leaks and all is well. Lasted a few months and started leaking again, repeated the process again a few months ago. Started leaking again the other day so I guess it’s time to find some tape and get it replaced.

An autobody shop supply store is what you want. Find out where a local autobody shop gets its stuff from.

3M window weld roll is what you want...not the caulk.

One roll should last you as long as your e46. I got a medium sized bead...I think 3/8"...you stretch it out to the thickness you need.

Also known as dumdum. Great for putting on bits and sockets to keep screws on if you don't have a magnetic socket/bit.

Try non hadening gutter sealant. Seals and doesn't go hard like the usual silicone sealants. It just forms a skin with a soft center. Makes it easy to peel it off if you have to do a repeat. Tape just comes away and there is always an end spot. Gutter sealant ia a hell of a lot cheaper solution than tape too. Continuous with no end point.
