Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knew about the exterior light bulbs that are in the trunk area. I have both a Touring and a M3, and even though there are light bulbs in there, they do not seem to work. Light bulbs recently changed in the Touring and still nothing. Is this a PA Soft setting maybe?

Check the wiring loom from body to trunk lid. The failed wire will be hiding inside the insulation--you need to yank the wires apart at the bend to expose the breaks.

I know that on the M, if it has the same issue, you can feed the rubber grommet down into the trunk by cutting off the ziptie on its bottom (inside the trunk).

See my thread with 'elephant trunk' in the title. Good luck.

Dmax! How are you? I see you have a different car listed. Do you still have your E46? How many miles on that baby? Thanks for this post for me to check out, and RRRM8E

Do you mean the reverse lights, or the red portion?

If you're talking about the reverse lights then it may be an issue with the wiring in the elephant trunk or elsewhere and you'd need to troubleshoot that and find out where the power is stopping.

If you're talking about the red portion that would be the rear fog lights that BMW opted not to give us on the tourings in the US, the wiring isn't even there for it and has to be added if you want to make them functional as I did (the LCM faceplate also has to be changed to a Euro one to get the button for it, and then the LCM has to be coded to make them operable).
