Slight wind whistling from driver's side

I am getting utterly frustrated with this beama

I recently changed over from an E36 318IS to a E46 325CI

I like the car but 2 things are driving me nuts

1.) With both windows fully shut and sunroof closed, while im driving on long stretch of road, e.g highway, at over 80km/h (i.e speed high enough for make stronger winds) i constantly hear a wind whistling noise coming from the upper right hand corner of the door, (or upper left hand corner in case of the American left hand driving side).
The door carpeted seal (not rubber one) which runs along towards the door handle as recently lost its glue and i can see where some red glue was used, i dont think this is the issue is it?

2.) Very randomly, i hear a squeak on random times while im driving...similar sounding to 2 metal parts just turned against eachother without lube, but its very short & quick. ive wriggled the driver seat, passenger seat, the gear knob, the hand brake and the arm rest, and none of them produced that noise.

Any thoughts welcome.

Cheers

spot on, its Wind noise yes.
and yeah it is the ultimate driving machine, lol. when i sold my E36 i bought a Honda Civic as a run aroumd, and the driving just aint the same.
Now that i got the E46, its so much bulkier and since its a coupe, u feel that it just grips the floor. :yikes:

lol. thats what you get for buying a coupe... wind noise.
Crap, loll

you need to figure out which way the window needs to be adjusted. if it isnt moving up enough, or if it's going up too far. coupes have all kinds of adjustment. after you know how it needs to move, take the door panel and vapor barrier and go at it with a ratchet, 10mm socket (i think) and a 1/4" drive extension. an internet search can probably tell you where the adjustment bolts are. if not, i'll get it from my bentley manual.
Ok when you mean go at it.. u mean hammer at the door panel?
i dont think i have the nerves to take out the door panel.. you know how it is with a new car, you feel like you dont want to break anything.
The window sure etches up a little when the door's closed..but why the wind noise? :banghead:

IDK, I drive a coupe and the wind noise is not too bad, even at high speeds on the highway. Try to check the position of the window relative to the window trim on a few other coupes. See if the window is in a similar position on your coupe.

As you know, the window drops down a little when you open the doors on the coupe. Perhaps the window is not moving up enough when you close the door. If you know someone who has a coupe check yours against theirs and also see if they have the same amount of wind noise as yours. You may just need a small adjustment to get rid of the noise.

All adjustments are made with the door panel off. So, you have to take off the door panel if you want to proceed. But, to quote you...

Well I know what you mean about a new car, but you have to start somewhere

Probably because the glass is not "etching" up enough. :hmm:

Have you looked closely at the condition of the rubber moulding that the glass rests on?

Does your window automatically go up when you close the door? The switch that triggers the window to seal when the door goes up on my coupe stopped working for some reason and I would get terrible wind noise, not to mention that my dome light wouldn't turn off by itself upon closing the driver's door. I glued a small piece of plastic to the switch and the problem hasn't bothered me since.

I had to put a piece of clear plastic hose behind the weather stripping right where the outside drivers mirror (top) contacts the weather stripping. There' s an indentation where it leaks air.

The hose is large enough to push the weather strippng out enough to get a good seal at the mirror root.

Once I did that - wind noise gone. Bought the hose at Home Depot for maybe $2; only takes a 2 inch piece. You can't even see the piece behind the weather stripping.
