Hello guys and girls! :excited:
Like the title says I need some help with how to safely remove an shock absorber with broken spring which I can't compress with a tool.

As the picture shows you I'm afraid the spring will "pop out" when I remove the shock absorber.
Anyone have any tip on how to do it or do you think the tension left is so small that it will barely move?
I've tried to move the spring around but it sits there pretty tight.

This is the first time I am removing the springs hence the questions.
Googled around and watched lots of videos but no one really shows a similar problem I have, that's why I am asking here. :)

Thank you beforehand.

It all comes out as one unit. You don't need to do this with it still in the car. Maybe you should just have a professional do this.
I'm afraid it won't do that since the spring has jumped off its holders. That's why I post.

Yes I could hire a professional to do it but this car is DIY car for learning purposes. So I want to do it myself and just looking a some tips of not to hurt myself while removing it. :p

The other side spring is intact so there is no issue getting it off there.

Yes I know how they work. I know that you shouldn't need an compression tool to remove a MacPherson strut from the car. Only when you need to disassemble it or reassemble it.
Since my spring is broken in half and sits there with lots of tension I don't want it to blow out in my face when I loosen the strut. Hence the question how I can safely remove it with tension left on a spring that can pop out from its holders since its broken.

Mods you can delete this thread. Seems hard to get advice about it.
