Are the rear shock mounts different from a coupe to a convertible? Thanks
that's not true, the E46 (M3) convertibles got a newer stronger bushing. used on other later convertibles. even stronger than the E30ic. Even the E30 M3ic had it's own stronger rear bushing. The strongest OEM rear shock mounts known to date are the ones out of an E30 convertible. RSM fit any 3 series from 1984 to date.
I had those once. they were called the shuttle mounts. advertised that you could change the bushing out on the car. they sell the replacement bushings and sold the replacement "track' bushing if you wanted them firmer. they were a good design.I get seduced by the carriage trade machined and polished parts that will outlast my car by at least a factor of two. And no one seeing my car will ever see these parts!
Yes, I bought the Turner Motorsport Al upper rear shock mounts: http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-3666-e30-e36-e46-aluminum-rear-shock-tower-mounts-pair.aspx
In the advertising they state that if they wear out you can replace just the rubber pieces, but I'll confess I could not tell you where to buy these replacement parts either.
And I enjoyed installing them!
