hmm... I wonder what that would look like.... OEM wheels painted black look tacky though IMO, no matter which ones they are. If you want black, go after-market.

 

I am going to go on a limb and say NO

 

You can do any clear coat over the plastidip. It functions as a barrier between the wheel and whatever you spray on afterwards. I've had friends do white plastidip, then spray paint over it, and do a clear coat over that. Just an idea.

Why wouldn't it? The layer underneath is still plasti-dip.

I've seen painted wheels before. From a distance, most of the time I think 'meh,' but then I get closer...and I think the same. When I get real close and see the finish, most of the time, because the owner is around and I'm basically a polite person, I end up having to swallow a little puke.

Paint the tires black instead like I did. Well, I did mine green, but body color...that's the point.

So, anyone know when this phase of fanatics will be over? I'm hoping maybe a year and a half. Am I close, you think? :lmao:

It'll never be over, we've passed the point of no return.
If you're going to paint them black at least do it right, plasti-dip starts to pit and look like crap faster than you can imagine.

 

If you want gloss finish, don't use clear plasti dip.

 

This guy plastidips his whole car and everything all the time. Has a website dipyourcar.com and you can buy it cheap and in bulk if you need. He swears by it and has explained it has lasted well over 8 months no peeling whatsoever, rain or shine. I may try it at some point but you have to have the right wheels for it to even look remotely nice in the first place. Most of our stock wheels would look horrible plastidipped unless you have the M sport wheels an I still only think the multispoke one looks best for that.
