Pinout for LCM (Light Control Module) Please!!!

I want to wire my new halos to turn on with the parking lights.... I know that this topic has been beaten to the ground. I searched through this forum extensively and it seems like nobody has figured this one out. Does anybody have pinout for the LCM? I was curious if there is a 12V tap for the parking lights.

If not on the LCM, does anybody know of any other source?

I don't want to hook it up to my fog nor do I want to have a separate switch for my halos.

Miamitopaz.... I wanted to get my halo working without the fogs.
From what I've read, the rear fog lights only work when the front ones are on. The same could be done by using the fog as trigger and sticking a switch in between the fog light and the relay. This is probably more for cosmetics.

But thanks for the advice.

There are separate bulbs for parking lights and turn signals. Worse case, tap to the licence plate bulb.

You can't tap from the front.... The corners are 5V or so for the parking and 12V for the blinkers. The bulb is a single filament type. When the parking like is on, I believe that the voltage isn't enough to trip the 12V relay. I'm assuming that the relay only gets tripped when the flashers are on.

You could probably tapped power from the license plate light or from the rear tail lights.... But they would have to be 12V power supply. I guess my problem is that I would like to get the tap from under the dash so I won't half to fish the wire from the back. I must be lazy or something.

I'm surprised that no one has really figured this issue out..... If anybody has done this, please enlighten all of us...

Where did u get your halos from? If you have the harness just use battery power and connect it to ECU. It will be on everytime u start the car. JLevi can hook u up with the harness etc. I can get u info if u need it. I just did mine last weekend.
We all know about the ECU hook up. That is very straight forward.

I just got my Day-light Running Light turned off by the dealer. I didn't want to have any lights on during the day.

Personally I think the halos would attract too much attention from the cops during the day time. In addition, I think the halos don't look as good without the parking lights on. So I'm thinking that I'll never use the halos without any other lights.

To those that sell these halos, any clue???

Found 12V parking light source for halosa!!!

:woot:

Ok... This is for those that have been look for the answer...

I won't be telling people how to do the halo installation.

Take the kick panel off on the driver side using a phillips and a flat head screw driver. Crawl underneath and look for the harness leading to the LCM (Light Control Module). Cut open the meshed sheathing and look for the light purple wire with the dark purple stripes. This wire leads to the rear parking light on the driver side. I tested this wire with a multi-meter and this is it!

So here it is!!!

 Did you already try it and know for sure this works ie halos only come on with parking lights? If so you da man! Thanks.
I haven't installed mine yet....
But the tap is for sure and this will work. I'm saying this with confidence because I have an engineering background.

I hope that BMW didn't change the wire color around for different model years. FYI, I have a 2003 M3 (I believe Nov 2002 production). If I were you, I would verify the tap with a digital multi-meter. But if you don't have one, go to the trunk and pull out the driver side light cluster. The second wire on shown in the following pictures is the parking light power wire. Make sure that the wire that you find under the dash leading to the LCM is the same color.

Good Luck with you install.

This will work

That works since the rear has sepearate bulbs??
There is a dual filament bulb in the back for parking/braking. This has a constant 12V power supply unlike the front corner markers. Plus, this line has been tested with a digital volt-meter.

Additional info about power source...

When I was doing the testing, I was thinking about the walk-away lamps (pulling the high-beam stalk towards you with the key out of the ignition) and the independent right-side/left-side parking lamps (positioning the turn signal to either right or left with the key out of the ignition).

When you turn on the walk-away lamps, 12V will be supplied to the halos. But remember, you headlights will be on too and then turn off in 30 seconds.

Plus, when you position the turn signal to either side with the key out, the halos will stay off. You wouldn't want power going to the halos if only one side of the parking light is illuminated.

To conclude, the light purple wire with the dark purple stripe is still the ideal tap for parking light....

Thanks carnage! I was hesitant to get the halos if they were on all the time. Did you have to lenghten or modify the wires from the halos?

The halos are definitely worth it!!! I bought the umnitza kit. The harness comes with ample amount of wires. If fact, I ended up cutting some off to make my install cleaner. No modification is needed though. You can install it as is.
