Is your car a SULEV model??

P1430 per the Bentley Manual is - Diagnostic Module Tank Leak (DM-TL) Heater Low

Assume the DMTL unit may have some form of heater element that may be burned out??

 

It's an M54 engine so I believe it is not SULEV.

But the description that you posted is what is displayed on the obd2 reader. Thank you so much jfoj. I will definitely check it out and report back.

Now i need to find out which heater element is burned out.

 

The BMW E46 SULEV was only produced as a 325i, I believe.

Since MY 2002, a heating element is integrated in the
DM TL pump to eliminate condensation. The heater is
provided battery voltage with “KL15” and the ECM provides
the ground path.

 

Thank you everyone for the replies. i will check the DMTL soon and will get back.

 

Start with checking fuses and then connections. The DMTL pump is kind of a PITA to access as I recall.

It may be a burned out heating element in the DMTL pump. I might be inclined to source a used one if the cost of a new one it high. This assumes the problem is with a failed heating element and not a connection or circuit related problem.

Check for rodent damage to the wiring as well!
