I dunno something about him seems shifty, he has an eBay as well with only 6 feedback and it's 3 users who have left 2 feedback each like a week apart all in about one month. He states pick up only but when you contact him he says he will only post it an you can only pay via bank deposit. Haven't been willing to take a gamble on it.

The v16 downloads work fine.

The CARiN disc format is what's used. From GPS Underground

you need to pick VDO Dayton in dash system at the bottom of the page and ms5000 afterwards.

Whereis***65533; | Buy Sat Nav Map Updates | VDO Dayton - Sensis

this disc is 100% compatible with bmw mk1-mk2-mk3-mk4 nav systems

vdo has 3 database formats:

original (used by carin 5xx and ms5000 ms3000 systems, BMW MKx series, rover75, vw phaeton, renault CNI1, PSA and others)
CA (crypted, used by vdo dayton C-IQ series: pc3200, pc5400, pc5500/5510 pc5600 pc5700, R&S series)
NG (new generation, compressed, used by portable series [pn1000 pn2050 pn3000] and PC5200, renault CNI2)

Yes that should work for any E46 stock navigation system from MKI to MKIV and makes sense since it's just CARiN navigation. There shouldn't be any special reason you need a BMW disk. The text file on my V16 disk says:

This medium contains a digital road map database for the CARiN- and VDODayton navigation compatible systems.
The medium can be used in `product' target-systems, for the "CARiN on PC" application, and for CARSiM.
Haven't heard back from Whereis yet, maybe tomorrow. There are very few references to V19 at all. It was only released a few weeks ago apparently. Even the Whereis website still mostly refers to V18.

Thanks for the info !
Did You end up buying V19 199.00 ?

I have an E46 M3 with updated MKIV Nav and was thinking about taking the plunge ..

Duh... yeah should have mentioned that... Not thinking straight today

Actually yes I did buy the v19. A couple of observations from very limited driving (mini review):

1) It also has Airport Link seemingly complete (even though not mentioned in the notes I posted).
2) Looks like maps are TomTom based about June 2012 which doesn't match some of the doco (i.e. V19 notes show as May 2012). From the ABSTRACT file:
This medium contains a digital road map database for the CARiN- and VDODayton navigation compatible systems.
The medium can be used in `product' target-systems, for the "CARiN on PC" application, and for CARSiM.

Tool :5001
Date :2012-06-28
CD number :21370
Medium :Master CD
Navigation databases:
.../prod/tom/cpr/oce/oce/oce_tom_tom_201203_20120621p23/oce_tom_tom_201203_20120621p23.cpr
Type :non C-IQ
Event Texts :carinet16s2048.20080318
TPD Database :/data/ops/itpd/full_products/MP121-8291/20120628
IBA Database :Not available
CARINSYS File :Not available
3) Flyover at the airport is there but the MKIV decides to not use it for some reason.
4) Had a small play with POIs (but never use them). There is a new TPD folder compared to V16 and that has some HTML type pages in it that the MKIV seems to understand and can use. Haven't gone back to my V16 to see what it showed.
5) Shipping was fast - only 2 or 3 days with standard delivery even though it said 5-7 or something
6) Comes as a pressed CD
7) Works fine so far with everything I've tried (limited though at the moment) even though not a BMW disc.
8) Fairly happy with the purchase given it's got the latest tunnels on it.

Before anyone asks, no I will not make copies. Sorry. I don't think $199 is completely unreasonable for a 10+ year old nav system.

If you want me to check if a road or address exists I can probably do that for you.

https://www.whereismaps.com/afterMarket/vdo-dayton-after-market/carin-ms5200.html

Should work but no guarantees. My receipt says "CARIN Aust MS5000 V19 "which I can't see listed any more. Yes purchased direct from Whereis.

Also per the above quote also:

https://www.whereismaps.com/afterMarket/vdo-dayton-after-market/carin-520.html
https://www.whereismaps.com/afterMarket/vdo-dayton-after-market/carin-ms3000.html

Should also work but again no guarantees. I took a punt and it worked.

Sorry but I just don't believe you then. Cdrom.toc should be there and is on every high disc I've seen. Post the so called text file you have then? This is in your E46?

I have a problem with these guys selling pirated discs and pretending they have updated versions that don't even exist. There is no v20 data available for BMW.

#32 ·
I am not here to make anyone believe me or not
Yes I have E46 and as I said, I give comments based on my own experience buying from www.navigationau.com
I am not the computer specialist so I went the easy way to check the map data. I have driven through the new suburbs and junctions which are just two or three month old, everything is on the map
This is 100% proof for me so I am happy with my purchase

Well I stand by my statements and I'll bet your copied discs are not the versions you think they are. You won't provide anything more to back your claim. I can only guess you have some association with them particularly given your posts here with a competitor doing the same thing:

http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=1024773&highlight=

Why change your tune re this sort of seller?

First you didn't have the cdrom.toc and now you're not a computer specialist?

WOW!!!!!
Sound like I am obliged to give you whatever you ask for or other way you will throw rubbish my way too
What sort of person are you?????????
I don't believe that Navigation Australia was the only company who has been desecrated by you

I have tried to purchase the map update from “Pigzmickey“ earlier this year but after payment, I realised that I was dealing with an interstate ripper. The payment has been refunded through PayPal claim
I left related comments regarding “Pigzmickey“ on the forum

Shonky, I can also guess that you have some association with “Pigzmickey“ particularly given your posts here with a competitor doing the same thing

Associated with neither and ripped off by neither as well. If you are happy with what you have good for you. I'm just saying I wouldn't trust what they've sold you and you got defensive. I'm genuinely interested to know what they are really selling hence asking for the contents of the small text file.

I don't even know the Pigzmickey is the other seller - only from what you say.

Navigation Australia not the only company "desecrated" by me you say? Find one other instance.
