It's possible to do, they will fit on your car, but to get them to retain all of the functions you will be in for a ton of work - no straight forward diy that I know of, but keep searching who knows, if you can't find one and feel like it's something you want to tackle anyways then make a diy!

It's something that can definitely be done, just might take a lot of work/time.

On coupes and convertibles, they're a direct bolt on. For sedans and wagons, the bases have to be modified slightly.

If I remember well, the 3-pin is the ribbon version, which unlike the 6-pin & 12-pin that can be swapped, it is a much more complicated process. have you taken the door/mirror apart and verified wiring??

I have pulled the passenger side mirror and that one is 3 pin, but from what i have searched up on my car apparently the drivers side is a 6 pin. I'll be checking the drivers side sometime today or tomorrow to confirm

 

Just do what I did. Buy OEM M3 mirrors, manually adjust glass mirrors on each mirror to you're liking.....and DONE :thumbup:

 

I know this forum is old by if anyone has the 3 pin ribbon mirror on there 46 coupe and wants m3 just get a door wireharness from a car with the 12 pin and the mirror module

and swap them over and you'll have the mirror movement functions again

I don't think that will work with ribbon cables, which are technically also 3 pin (passenger's) and 6 pin (driver's). Just for those that are wondering.

 

It will work i just did it on my 2005 330ci which came with the ribbon cables and I bought the m3 mirrors with the 12 plug connector and just swapped over the 12 plug harness from form my 01 325ci which had the 12 plug harness and mirror module and my m3 mirrors on my 330ci has the movement functions now
