LH/RH fuel pump differences and availability?

The fuel pump went out on my 01 330ci yesterday. It has two fuel pumps, I assume a "master" that pumps fuel to the rail and a "slave" that pumps fuel over the driveshaft. The one that's bad for sure is the "master". It has a four pin connector on it while the slave (the one on the LH side of the car) has a two pin. Searching on autohausaz.com, it comes up with two part numbers, 16146752499 and 16146766942. The former is a VDO-Siemens, the latter a URO. What's the deal here? Are these left and right and only the VDO is available for one and the URO for the other side, or are these different part numbers for the different brands, and if so which side are these part numbers for and where are the ones for the other side?

Thanks in advance for any insight on this.

Slow down, do not purchase from AutoHaus for this and DO not purchase URO.

You only need the passenger side fuel pump.

www.bmaparts.com use SPECE30 discount code, order a Siemens/VDO pump with fuel sender, its about $130, if you order tonight, you may get it Mon or likely Tues with standard shipping. BMA drop ships and is FAST.

Read the 2nd link below in my signature.

No, the right side of your fuel tank has a fuel pump and a fuel level sensor. The left side only has a fuel level sensor. The E46 uses a venturi jet pump, which uses the return flow from the fuel pressure regulator to suck fuel from the left side of the tank to the right, and gets to avoid the extra cost and complexity of a second fuel pump.
