Hey guys, so I am on the fence about getting a wide body done on my NON-m, I honestly do not like 90% of the e46 wide body cars out there so I don't want to look back and not like it after spending so much money, the main reason I want/need to do the wide body is due to tire size fitment, I am maxed out at 275s all around and I get rub upfront and rear either way, i know if you aint rubbin you aint dubbin lol but ive already cracked my driver fender up front and its just annoying, so I plan on getting m3 front fenders (mold/delete the m3 vents) and for the rear I want to have m3 quarters but extend it maybe an extra inch more then stock m3s, now my dilema is I love my front and rear bumper and the side skirts def go with it but If I widebody the bumpers wont be wide enough and it will look akward? I know OSS modified his m-tech 2 bumpers and it looks great, I was thinking of a V-CSL front end with molded air ducts and oem m3 or GTR rear bumper but not sure what side skirts I like the GTR ones are not bad but not my favorite... anyways I am not posing as my car has a stg 2 hpf under the hood and plan on going stg 3+ one day so this is just for show... enough blabbing if anyone has any suggestions please feel free to post em up!

Here are some pics of the car currently :)

I really like your idea on this and its pretty much what I would do if I ever had the need/desire to go WB. Here are my suggestions:

-OEM M3 front fenders with side vent delete
-M-techII front bumper widened to fit front fenders & a custom molded lip similar to the one below but on the M-techII
-OEM M3 rear quarters widened 1" with completely flattened inner lip
-OEM M3 rear widened to fit rear quarters
-V-CSL diffuser or mold the CSL portion of current diffuser to OEM M3 diffuser while leaving only CSL portion exposed - paint the rest of it. This will give you the best diffuser fitment
-OEM M3 sideskirts
-OEM M3 hood with E92 m3 vents (maybe a very very slight boser in front but only extend it 1/2" max) - although your current hood is very nice & would flow well also.

Here is a pic of what I mean for the front fenders & custom lip (but mold the lip to the splitter lines of the M-techII):

Hey Bill I guess we have similar taste! Haha, honestly I prefer the oem mtech 2 sides I have now better than oem m3, I like your front bumper idea I was actually thinking something along those lines but leave my current paint scheme, as for rear bumper I paid good money for my rear diffuser/bumper and was thinking of widening it and adding GTR style vents, but I guess it would probably be easier to get a oem m3 and widen that, what do you think about the gtr side skirts I don't think my mtech 2 ones will be agressive enough but maybe.. Also I plan on sendin my rear wheels to weldcraft and get them widened from 18x9 to 18x11 :)

I think the GTR skirts will flow much better than the MT2 skirts, since the mt2 skirts don't have much bulk to them. Personally, i still prefer the OEM m3 skirts but its your car so do what you want! Obviously you have good tastes to get it to where its at now:thumbsup: Widening an MT2 rear would be a lot of work and it may be too much for it since it already needs to be widened a bit for OEM m3 quarters, let alone widened m3 quarters. Then again, i have no body work experience so i cant say for sure...thats just how it seems to me.

Will weldcraft be adding an additional 2" to the lip of the wheel or on the inner barrel? The only way i see that working is if they add 2" of lip to them. It may be more cost effective to sell and buy a new set of lower offset rear wheels.

Also, try to guage interest on here for that diffuser. I know it takes 5 weeks to get to the US which is why most people don't run it. You may be able to sell it for close to the original price since the buyer wouldn't have the wait/lead time and its in good condition.

i would love to do a wide body on my sedan when im done with my s54 swap... i think i would end up doing it custom metal. just chop the fenders weld new lips then pudy pudy and more pudy to make it look good as for the bumpers who knows..

Hey Mach im not feeling the flossman kit in any way theres one local and its not my cup of tea...

Thanks for the great advice Bill, when I said we had similar taste I wasnt kidding as I actually plan on getting a set of those work rims in the exact paint scheme you have but m3 offset for street setup and use my Volks as track rims...I wonder if anyone could do a photo shop of my car with a wide body with GTR side skirts, I think I will use a OEM m3 rear as I can source one cheap locally and buy a Vorsteiner rear diffuser and possibly get them to modify it to GTR style, maybe I can source a GTR rear bumper somewhere I just don't want cheap aftermarket ***** crap... I am still on the fence on modifying my front bumper or buying a VCSL bumper and modifying with no intake on both side like RaviJ has its my favourite setup by far! That way I can sell my front and rear bumpers to a lucky new owner especially if there sparkling graphite metalic...Also I might have a friend interested in my quad diffuser locally but I know how it feels to wait 5 weeks and paid around 900$ for it to as its "custom made to order" lol... As for adding to the rims buddy says they add from the inside of the barrel so no paint work is necassary but that increased the offset to +65 since my current rim is 18x9 et 40 so I would run a 25-30 mm h&R spacer... might even make it 18x11 all around I love my square setups lol but we will see what I can pull off I have all winter soon enough :)

Heres couple pics of my car from a nice local cruise we went on yesterday, amazing twistys through the forest with nearly 100 cars, was pretty damn fun :)

I'm currently also after a wide kit and realy not into the flossman kit especially With it's price tag! You may lauf and call it shitty tack but theirs a company on eBay just doing the wide arch flares and if you give them measurements will make it to your cars needs! Their made from carbon Kevlar and about 10% price of a basic wide kit! Just a suggestion if you realy like your current kit! Also liking your car as it is!

So I am almost ready to pull the trigger on the following parts for my wide body build...

-Vorsteiner VCSL front bumper with 1 piece CF splitter (mold the fog duct)

-Rear oem m3 bumper that will be extended 1-1.5" at the rear quarters also I will have the GTR style vents cut in

-OEM m3 rear quarters extended 1-1.5"

-Vorsteiner GTS3 rear diffuser

-Oem m3 front fenders with the m3 vents molded (not sure if I should match the rear and get the GTR style cut out on the front vents to)

- Widen my rear volks from 18x9 to 18x11 wrapped in some MT 305s

-Debating between Vorsteiner GTR side skirts or oem m3 side skirts still'

-Possibly the VRH front air ride suspension that Greg Ogden has as well to keep my car low but when needed to raise it to get over something a press of the botton will help...

What do you guys think about that list? I just cant figure out if I like GTR or oem sideskirts better...

This guys car is a Inspirtation to me... thats what I basically want it to look from the side but obviously with CSL front end..

The new proposed plan is pretty sick. Although I was originally against the GTR sides, I think they will match the theme better if you go with GTR vents on the bumpers. If you end up scratching the GTR style bumpers then go M3 sides instead since the GTR sides will be out of place without the GTR bumpers.

How far down are you planning on running extended quarters? If you are running them an additional 1-1.5" all the way down to the sideskirts then the M3 sides wouldn't be aggressive enough most likely. If you are adding the 1-1.5" at the top of the fender and tapering it into the bottom to be flush with sideskirt then the M3 sides will work IMO. What i mean by running them all the way to the sideskirts is like the car in the link below, and by tapering I mean retaining a more OEM style fender line that does not protrude from the side of the car where it meets the side skirts.

Hey Bill, I will be tapering them not a fan of that bulky wide body look, looking for something clean :)

pretty much like this as I posted in a prior post...

I am thinking the stock m3 side skirts will flow if I dont do the gtr cutouts but I am going to do the rear one for sure, not sure about in the front fenders yet... the guys car I posted only has it in the rear but his car has the m3 grills obviously and mine wont so the front fenders might be a bit plain looking if I dont do the gtr style fenders... this is where I am stuck ptetty much between sideskirts and gtr cutouts haha

Yea I understand your dilema with the GTR cutouts since you wont have the m3 side grills. I've personally never been big on the GTR front fenders mainly because it looks so busy, so without the m3 side grills I think it could be done to be more aggressive but still look clean. Good choice on only extending the top of the fender and tapering it so its clean. Here is a thread on a car with F&R GTR fenders but still OEM M3 sides just in case you missed it. Contrary to my last post, I think it actually looks good with the OEM M3 side skirts and GTR fenders on the white/green M. Maybe these pics will help you decide.

Ya but there rear quarters are oem not extended so it's hard to say what it will look like, I think Im going to do the gtr sides and cut outs on front fenders and rear bumper and call it a day, the oem would probably be nice to but won't be nearly as aggressive as the gtr sides

Hey guys, so I have pretty much figured out what body panels im going with... Now I think I will be changing my paint colour, I still really like sparkling graphite mettalic but I dont LOVE it like other colours, I am thinking changing to a matte colour like the reventon matte black or bmws frozen grey... what do you guys think? any colour suggestion would be great... Also I really like my current rims but wouldnt mind a set of bronze/gold rims so the paint has to either match my current titanium gunmetal volks or bronze/gold rims...
