exterior trim clips

I have questions about changing my exterior trim. Do the exterior trim mounting clips/points change by make or year?

If I find a good clean set of black trim on an early model 2000ish 325i is it going to mount the same as my 2004 330i?

I'm thinking I might want to swap out my Chrome exterior lower and upper window trim for all black. The lower window exterior trim was straight forward. Use a plastic pry tool, work slow, pry little by little moving all along the whole section back and forward as to not bend a straight section of rubber (because once you bent it, too much, it will never be straight again) Do this several times tell it simply falls off.

But I remember in my 325i I always had this problem with the upper rear peace just above the slope at the rear door window aka the "rain gutter". Just from normal everyday driving--It would separate form the long trim section running towards the front of the car, and the plastic clips would break off, or the factory glue would come lose. Eventually this section of trim would just fly off on the freeway. lol. I notice this hasn't been a problem on the 330i's and was wondering if anything has changed in regards to the trim. Mounting, clips, glue, ect.. I got real good at removing the "rain gutter" as a complete section. I would practice at the junk yards. Start at the front of the vehicle, and work your way all the way back. For installing, start at the back section first, then work you way towards the front. It seemed to work well for me.

Anyways. Thoughts?

Here is the trim item on RelaOEM. I cant see anything that would indicate how the mounting would be different. Although they are the same part number.

The trim item in question is #13 Moulding Right. Part Number 51132695282

Yea Vpoint, That was my experience as well. I would ether have to re-glue the plastic piece or just get a whole new trim. Easier to grab the whole section front to back than deal with that troublesome section itself. Even thought real OEM shows it as a single part its actually 2 parts glues together towards the read just towards the slope. I think with the facelift BMW might have corrected this problem by making the trim a single piece rather than two pieces glued together? That's my suspicion at least..

Have you noticed any variation of the mounting design or position of the clips through the years? Because I notice this problem seemed to be corrected at some point.
