Early vs Late Model 2002 E46 Sedan

How do I determine if I have an early model or late model 2002 e46 325i sedan? There are a set of tail lights that I want to buy and they fit the early model 2002. To fit later models I sockets are needed to make it fit.

Open your drivers door and look for the sticker that has all you Vin, Tire, and YEAR data. It will have your cars "born on date"
