Was drulling over a roush 06 mustang today at work and just wondered if a custom side exhaust could be made for an e46 that would sound mean as hell and look just as good? im not to knowledgable on the exhaust but i have a great imagination lol. is there really any exhaust that will make the sound close to a mustang? that would rediculoous thought if i saw a m3 with dual side exhaust or possibly my sedan with one

why would you want your car to sound like a mustang? i love the sound of a german sportscar.
i actually think some exhausts for the e46 sound a little ricey but then again something like the TSE3 gets me wanting a bmw. im in love with mustangs but my dad wouldnt let me get one saw i went for the 330... i guess im just a little upset about not havng a mustang ill just wait till i get my roush mustang when i hit the lotto.

Put side exhaust on E46 and you might go straight down to Dept. of Licensing and have your name changed to PimpDaddy.
 What?

nikkoo - If you have an aggressively styled car then don't be afraid to give it a try. I'd ignore most of the comments here as many are afraid (read unoriginal) to try something that deters from the "norm."

What's the benefit of having an exhaust on the side, rather than the back?
Besides subtle performance gains from shorter piping and less weight, a lot of race cars do it so they can add a rear defuser (i.e., better aerodynamics). By moving the exhaust to either the side of the car (M3 GTR), or mouting it higher in the bumber (McLarern SLR, Ferrari FFX, certain variants of NSX GTR, etc).

yea my xi is def not stock right now but its still in the works:)
by next summer i think the car will be able to handle the side exhausts, considering it will be the last mod.
