Pump failure issue problem

UPDATE!!

When I first start the car, everything is OK. Then if i drive te car a litttle harder, a yellow light on the right side of the dash pops up. Like a circle. And the car starts skipping gears. Not just 3rd. A different gear each time i start the car. Sometimes skips 2nd sometimes 3rd sometimes 4th

Also, when i upshift, if i keep my foot on the gas, the car won't shift. The gear starts blinking and i will have to release my foot off the gas so that it goes into the upper gear, and i can keep driving

 

Gear position sensor and while ur at change the salmon relay too. the gear position sensor is around $350 relay is $12. make sure u bleed the system after you install the gps and while ur at it check if any of ur compression springs are broken. goodluck!

 

I don't want to change the smg pump if that's the problem %100

So is it the gear position sensor? Or is it the smg pump?

BTW, where is the gear position sensor located?

 

You're symptoms are some of those associated with a failing gear position sensor. The gear position sensor is part 2 in the below diagram to give you an idea of where it is located. As stated above I would also go ahead and replace the SMG salmon relay as well.

the symptoms of the gear position sensor sounds just like my problem but from what I read, when the position sensor fails, the car starts shifting from 2 to 5 or you can only use like Reverse, 2nd, 5th and 6th

My car shifts to all gears when you first start it but after a little drive, it will skip only 1 gear. That gear is sometimes 4th, sometimes, 3rd and sometimes 2nd (until now)
And if will keep skipping that same gear. Meaning, when the light comes on and starts skipping 3rd, is always skips 3rd. Then when I stop the car, start it again, that yellow light goes and goes into every gear fine (but with that blinking problem), and then if it skips 4th, it will only skip 4th until I stop the car again

Compression springs first, Gear Posiion sensor second. Find someone local or a shop that can read BMW / SMG fault codes.

the car does not drop out of gear
like I said, the symptoms sound like the position sensor but I want to make sure because with a failed position sensor, it says the car will shift from 2nd to 5th and only go into R-2-5-6
My car only skips one gear when the automatic tramsmission light comes on
and it goes back to normal if i turn it off and start it again

can someone tell me the smg pump failure symptoms??

 

i know this is a old ass thread but was their a solution to this?
