Hello, i***8217;m looking for a temporary music solution to listen music from my iPhone (Spotify and such) before i get one of those expensive head units.

But what is the better solution a Cassette Adapter or a FM Transmitter? Which one is the most reliable, will have better sound quality and such?

Here are some that i found that look to be good ones well atleast the brands are idk if those products are the best ones out there, do you guys know better ones maybe?

(I don***8217;t think this one will work with my radio, idk)
https://www.amazon.com/Parrot-MKi92...ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=parrot+mki9200&qid=1581160631&sprefix=parrot+mki&sr=8-2

(Same idk if this one will work with my radio)

(This one seems to be the best cassette adapter out there, idk if that***8217;s true or not)

My radio is S660 Radio BMW Reverse (C42)

If a Cassette Adapter will work, it will be the better choice. As for an FM Transmitter, they don't work worth a squat. I did install an iSimple IS77 in my Town Car and it worked great. It's different than an FM Transmitter as it plugs directly into your Head Unit's antenna port. It will also charge your iPhone/iPod device too.

Ok i***8217;ll get a Cassette Adapter then. Do you or anyone else know if the Monster one is the best one out there or are there better ones? https://www.amazon.com/Monster-iCarPlay-Cassette-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B002DW92IE

I think the Parrot ones work the same as the one you mentioned not sure, but i don***8217;t know if they will work with the radio i have. The Alpine one is a FM transmitter but made by Alpine so premium quality compare to other ones who are cheaper, i don***8217;t if that changes anything.

Back when I owned cars with a cassette player (you must not be in the States; I don't think any US-bound E46s had cassette headunits), I never had any success with an FM transmitter, and I tried a number of brands.

IMO there's not a whole lot of difference between brands of cassette adapter. It's a stopgap solution so just buy something cheap.

Idk about the E46 Cassettes radio, but i***8217;m from Europe. Ok, so no FM transmitter then.

I think i***8217;ll get the Monster one, it***8217;s not user expensive and i prefer to get a branded one instead of non-branded one.

Anyone use or has used the Parrot MKi9200 and can give me some infos? Will this work with my radio, i need to plug the Parrot cables and such into my radio, but idk if it***8217;s gonna work with the radio i have. Since it***8217;s quite expensive i don***8217;t want get one if it***8217;s not gonna work. Also the BMW site from where i live sells the Parrot one on their site for like 280$ don***8217;t if it***8217;s worth it compare to those cassette adapters even though they do have more options, or should i just stick to the cassette adapters and later on just invest into those headunits?

Honestly, if you're going to throw that kind of money at it, make the swap to an Android head unit with a lot more features than a Parrot MKi9200. You can get into a Avant-4 for a little more and you can add more features later as your budget allows.

I tested the Monster iCarPlay Cassette Adapter for a few days now so far i think it***8217;s a pretty good solution for anyone who has a cassette radio, the only bad thing is if no song is playing and such there is this buzzing sound but if you play music (Spotify) no buzzing at all, even if someone calls you you can hear them from the speakers and the music starts back after the call is over, sound quality is pretty good for what it is and for the price aswell i***8217;m pretty happy so far. Definitely a good cheap solution until i get a one of those expensive headunit.

I know the OP said a temporary solution but for the fairly cheap price and an hour of work, I had great success installing a 3.5 jack to my original radio and run a $13 Bluetooth adaptor. It's been absolutely perfect and I'm very pleased.
I don***8217;t think that solution works with the radio i have S660 Radio BMW Reverse (C42)
