I've read a lot on the forum about LED tail lights for the older E46s, but the threads are all a few years old or very old.

What are the best LED tail lights out there for the 2002 M3?

I've heard Spyder tail lights are good quality but I can't tell if I'll have to have anything coded out of the ECU to get them to work properly.

I'm considering both the fairly stock-looking lights and the much more up-to-date-looking lights.

For a more up-to-date look, I kind of like the following Spyder lights, but I can't find any pictures of them on M3s online to see if I like them. Anyone have these or pics of them? Any coding required? (I don't want to code anything out)

Thanks.

Best ones are the Stock OEM LED tail lights. available on 2003.5-2006 M3 and 2004-2006 Coupes.
I think there is coding involved though unfortunately to use updated tail lights on the older models.

Spyder tail light are not my cup of tea.

^what he said.
OEM LEDs are by far the best. you’ll need to do some minor coding and use the adapter cables. then you’re completely set.

the reason you can’t find photos of those Spyder lights is there pure crap looking and lasting. LEDs look cheap and so do the tubes when lit.

there are two decent aftermarket LED brands, Eagle Eyes and Depo. and even they don’t always last long. but they’re the closest copies to factory LEDs and better electronic quality than others out.

just go aftermarket LED replicas then. don’t go Spyder style. the two I mentioned have resistors wired inline so no coding needed. plug n play
