I am thinking of getting 3.64 does anyone have it? how are the rpms? Would it be more torque then 3.46??:hmm:

won't get more torque technically
it will feel it because you are running a higher final drive ratio, but your engine power/torque is still the same

do you have a 5 or 6 speed
i have a 6 and i have looked that the rpms
80mph i think i'll be around 3200rpms in 6th
but in 5th i think it might be more up around 3700ish (don't quote me)

search this thread, there is a link where you put in your gear ratios and tire size, and it will give you a mph to rpm comparison

i am gonna go w/ the 3.38 tho, its slightly taller.....

and if i am not mistaken, you can still get to 62 in 2nd, where (for some reason this is sticking in my head) you get to 58 or 59 with the 3.46

dunno, find that thread with the link and you will be good to go

how much of a difference can it make on the track :hmm: like half a second or more? I have intake and exhaust, I am also going to get a shark injector soon. I am a good driver if i do high 14s on quarter mile with a perfect launch and power-shifting. I will be happy lol :excited:

I have a 3.64 diff in my 01' 330Ci. Its a steptronic 5-speed. After changing the diff from 3.38, across the board, its 500 rpms higher. At ~90mph, I'm at 3250 in 5th. Max speed in 2nd dropped from 72 to 64 (I tested before and after). It'd be better with a 6th gear, but its tolerable for daily driving.

i have 325 FI, wich will soon be 330 as soon as my parts arrive... LOL.... 5 speed, 3.46 dif.....im thinking about getting 3.64 diff aswell.
i dont do ANY highway driving cuz here in el salvador streets are not very long...LOL....and my daily is an bulletproof GMC YUCKON...so as you may imagin, my car doesnt see the streets much.
what is holding me back is that even with the 3.46 i get to much wheel spin...i couldnt imagine what would be with 3.64. maybe shinobee... (sorry if i didnt spell it right) could tell us a bit about this???

Its only ~5% difference - other than the change in rpms, and top speed in the gears, nothing major. It feels a little punchier, and I tried measuring the difference in 0-60, but the change didn't result in any gains I could quantify. Traction has been a little problem though since I got the S/C ,so it only got worse with the lower ratio.

For those who have manual transmission and diffs with higher ratios to begin with (2.93, 3.07, etc.), going to 3.38 or 3.46 has a bigger impact and you will probably notice that change.

intresting..
Can you make a recommendation on what i sould get?

I do some highway, usually am easy on the throttle but still like to get loose sometimes, im debating on the 3.46 or 3.38. What is the RPM on a 5ps at 85mph? fuel ecom?

Also anyone one for sale and a rough price to install it?
