Has something recently changed ? When we last talked, you didn't even want to spend $500 on your Xi's suspension.

I just looked at your pic & your Bimmer looks good. The drop hats will lower the front about 1/2" more but in turn will "Lift" the rear end slightly more so be prepared to install thinner rear spring pads to even things out.

Not really. Still holding off, but I like to be thorough in my research. If I even lower my car I'll probably wait till March-April at this point. I could use the extra clearance this winter.

Do u have a part number for those? what's the difference in thickness?
You can get:

1) 3mm
2) 5mm
3) 7.5mm
4) 10mm
5) 14.5mm

But I'd tell you to wait & assess your new look after you've driven it for a day or two. Since this job has nothing to do with the front, just wait & estimate the proper drop you need. BTW, please post up 2 or 3 good quality close up side pics with the lens at ~2.5 feet off the ground; maybe a before & after.

Got the drop hats on today I'll give it a day or two to settle and take the after pics
That sounds good.

What's funny is there were two Xi Drop Hat jobs done today, East Coast & West Coast.

It's hard to see difference in pics but after a few days I have definitely noticed small drop at least 1/2inch I'm satisfied!

Xi Lowering / Have Your Cake & Eat it Too

Eibach springs are more stiff than stock, but not as stiff as H&R springs. I have the H&R springs and honestly I would say I like the feel of the Eibachs better(I have them on my ZHP). To get more of the raked/even lowered look you will need to get the drop hats if you do go the EIbach route.

For the XI you want to get Koni yellows and Rob43 9 way adjustable rears. You have 3 options for springs. Ebay(ask rob), Eibach, and H&R.

Just a bit of an update to this thread - I've got about 8-9K on my setup, OEM shocks/struts with new OEM strut mounts and the Eibach XI-specific spring kit. Still infinitely impressed with the ride and handling, but I've now run into a few somewhat expected issues.

Issue #1 - Front alignment. Camber is not adjustable to under -1.7 degrees in the front. After settling, it really cambered out. Can't correct it without camber plates. Yes, I did wait this long to have it aligned due to the tires being shite already and honestly just being lazy and it being summer where I could get away with a crap set of tires. Now that winter is here I've bought new tires and I'm up against that issue which has to be corrected ASAP or the new tires will be shot.

Issue #2 - CV Boots. Both front CV axles have torn boots. I replaced the driver's side axle when I installed the springs. So there's that. I knew this was a risk I'd be taking. I do not have a solution to the issue at this point.

Just thought you guys should be aware. I really feel like the front has settled unnecessarily low, however I haven't measured it to see the difference in arch height or wheel gap vs. the rear. I'd definitely feel more comfortable with a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch higher in the front, at least from what I can tell by looking at it. YMMV.

^ Post up some quality close up side veiw pictures of your Bimmer.

The lower you go, the more negative camber you automatically get, why don't you raise
it up the 1/4" to 1/2" you want ? They're creative ways to accomplish this.

I'm at work right now, car is in the shop. This was a week after I installed the springs. It's settled a bit lower since then.

Admittedly, if I could find a solution to the boots cracking, I'd be pretty happy after a set of camber plates and a proper alignment. I know -1.7 isn't the end of the world, but new tires are new tires. :)
