So there's some f*cked up noise coming from my car when idling. It sounds like a ticking or chattering. If I disengage the clutch (pedal depressed) the noise goes away. And when I give it some gas and accelerate, the noise goes away.
Any ideas?
Thanks guys.

Oil level is fine.
If it's the throw out bearing, I'm guessing that to fix it requires serious work, ie, removing parts of the driveline/clutch assembly?

yup. TO bearing is located with the clutch. just being noisy doesn't mean it will fail, but i would complain if it's under warranty.

Thanks guys
I'm going to bring it to my mechanic in the morning to see what can be done.

Yup..sounds like the TO bearing to me too...nothing serious...not even worth opening up the clutch in my opinion, so the BMW tech can mess something else up....i think the noise is enhanced by the cold....anyway...good luck

Took it to my mechanic - nothing serious. Probably TO bearing or something minor that happens with a combination of cold/rough idle.
Thank god. :D
And thanks for the tips guys.
