I have HM2's 18 x 8.5 on order with 235/40/18 all around for a 330i

I am thinking that I might switch the tire size to 255/35/18 rear which I know will look great but it's the front that gets me a little comfused.

If I go with a 225/40/18 won't it look like too much rim, this is ideally the perfect set-up except for this reason but since it's a front wheel, maybe it won't look too bad . . .

If I go with 235/40/18 then I will have a bigger diameter wheel in the front then in the rear . . . again sounds like it might not be a good set-up

What have others done ?

Any pictures of this staggered set up ?

Go for the 235's on a 8.5 wheel, and the 255 is ok if you want a staggered setup. The difference is only 1% or so, but when your rear tires are near 30% and your fronts 70%, the difference is much greater than the original 1%.

But of course, 235's would be most track friendly.

Are you saying I should stick with the 235's all around or the 235's in the front ?

I am concerned that the look of the car might not look as good with the rear wheels if I go the same size all around since the rear wheels are more 'in' towards the car and the fronts stick out further. I am trying to figure out what is a more uniformed look. OTOH Maybe this should really be a non-issue :dunno:

I should have eleborated...

If you are a performance oriented person, stick with the 235's all around. The extra width in the rear will make the car understeer quite a bit and you don't really need anything larger than 235's, because our cars do not put down that much power to create massive tire spinning.

If you are more show, then the 255 in the rear should be just fine with the 235's up front. The difference of 1% is the difference between the 225's and 235's, which is really negligible, if you take into account that percentage rises just by having uneven tire wear in the front and the rear.
