So, time to document this adventure I guess. I started a blog to centralize stuff, but Ill be posting here also as I progress.

The Blog: http://brakeswapracing.blogspot.com/

So this all started with me selling a very nicely setup and competitive E36 M3 racecar that I had been racing since 2004 or so. It was finally time for something new (since Josh Smith started kicking my butt) and I came across a GREAT deal on a 2004 M3 that had a salvage title on it due to a headlight fire. The previous owner was even a member here!

If any of you guys are in the DC area, or closer to Frederick, I highly recommend Givens Collision (http://www.givenscollision.com/). They do great work and you can follow along with your car's progress! If youre curious, click on "Check Vehicle" on their website and mine is #11380.

Anyhow, the car will undergo a major transformation soon. Rang up James Clay a bit late in this process since I knew he was still conducting "business" at SEMA. Once he got back, he did what he would do for anyone considering this adventure, draft a plan and set a schedule.

I have a DE coming this weekend at VIR and Clay was able to put something together for me on SUPER short notice. So gone is the stock suspension and in are some SUPER sexy Moton DAs! You also cant have a racecar with a stock exhaust right? So in goes Bimmerworld's race exhaust.

Will report back after this weekend!

I will be watching...Let me know what you think of the Motons. I have been looking at doing an AST set-up, but motons are on the short list as well. Will be interesting to see the differences in car set-ups. What springs are you running?

What is the color on the car? Looks kind of greenish from photo.

850/1000.

Color is Mystic Blue. Not sure yet on the paint scheme. I might just leave it as is and make some use of vinyl.

Just got a baseline dyno today. Torque is a tad low and car is running rich up top, but hoping some Bimmerworld Epic tuning will fix that.

This is for a stock S54 w/ Bimmerworld Exhaust and Ebay headers. The #s are right where they need to be for GTS3, but I definitely need to get about 20 more torque across the range.

VIR was also fun with the Motons. I was able to muster out some 214s with bald Hoosiers. Still 7 seconds off the GTS3 pace, but once I get the suspension dialed in and alignment set optimally, I should be close (with other mods of course). Bimmerworld was a great help as James helped me setup the suspension "remotely". Their support is great to have.

Best Thanksgiving dieting plan on the market today:
Nice. I am clueless on how to remove the dash. It would have made removing the carpet a lot cleaner!

I thought E46s were supposed to be heavy pigs?! Weighed in at 2950 with stock seats, AC, and tons of other stuff still in the car. Problem now is I need to be at 3415 for my TTB shakedown this weekend. After that, Im taking everything out. Still on the fence on whether I should run GTS3 or GTS4.... will have to see.

Quit s<sp>h<sp>i<sp>t<sp>t<sp>i<sp>n' me...why that high for your shakedown?
Have to be for TTB rules. You shoulda seen the ballast plates I was drilling fri night. Got annoyed and ended up going to a nearby machine shop.

In comparison, Josh Snith was turning 135s in a GTS3 prepped car. Once I get aero on this thing and proper alignment, I think i could wheel with him

Jesus. What are you thinking - light weight with a restrictor for GTS3?
Was thinking how to win tires :) There would be no WAY I would turn 133-134s in this thing even with all the weight out. TTB was the way to go.

Still havent decided if Im running GTS3 yet. Most likely will be a combo of restricting engine w/ ballast.

Gotta get the cage in it. That will increase the weight. Also, if you are running a cool suit, you can use the chest of water as ballast as well.
