Windshield washer not spraying fluid

Hey guys, I have an '02 330ci AT

The windshield washer pump decided not to spray any fluid today... Do the pumps fail randomly without warning? It was working perfectly fine the last time I used it, spraying the fluid quite strongly... There is no response now when I pull on the stalk, and I don't hear any buzzing from the pump either... Just the wipers moving.

Just wondering if there are other issues to consider before replacing the pump?

Also, not sure if it matters, but I have also removed the pump for the headlight washers and plugged the hole for that a while back.. this wasn't an issue as I used the regular washer plenty after that

Thanks in advance for any help

I have a spare OEM pump laying around which I can replace... I'll do that sometime today hopefully

Just find it really weird it would fail out of nowhere when it was working perfectly fine last week. Is there a specific issue that causes them to fail ?

Do you know where/which fuses or relays to look for if that doesn't end up working ?

Yes they do fail like that...

I recommend rebuilding your current pump (theses a huge writeup with lots of picks somewhere on the site)..

I've bought a couple aftermarket pumps that simply don't have the power/pressure like the OEM pump, resulting of washer fluid spraying out in the passenger side and just dribbling out on the further drivers side.

Rebuild the windshield washer pump?

To each his own, but mine wasn't working when I bought the car and I didn't hesitate to replace the pump with a good quality pump and grommet from FCPeuro. Super easy swap and I think less than $20. And if it ever fails again, free replacement from fcp.

yes they can just go out.
which i find rather disheartening since if you think about how often it's used isn't much life in that pump.

like others said check the fuse first but just buy a new one online. they are really inexpensive and easy to replace on the non-Ms.

My washer pump is not working..no power getting to the pump. I pulled the pump from the tank and connected it to a 2 amp battery charger...and the pump spun.
I checked the fuse box in the glove box..three fuse associated with the windshield washer system...all three are fine. Does anyone know whar else I should be checking? Thanks.

i'd check the wiring.
first, although the pump worked from an outside source, check to see if the pump's wire/connector is getting power when it's triggered.

you could have a broken wire leading to the pump, or something in the stalk that triggers it is causing the issue.
*that's if as you say the fuses are all ok.

Junkyard! Easy removal. Cheap.
as inexpensive as they are aftermarket with warranty i wouldn't bother with a rotting/rusting junkyard one.
