I have OE M68's...7.5 front, 8.5 rear...can i put on 255/40/17 winter tires all around on them..will they fit or will it make it worse then my contis in the snow now?

I thought narrow tires would do better in the snow...doesnt snow enough here in Seattle to find out...

since these are wider will they be better then my conti's or worse????

The will be better then your contis, because they are made for the snow....but the rule of thumb is, narrower is better. I run 205's on winter rims.

THe 18" Wheel option comes with that config so you should be able to use it for your 17's.
