in all seriousness though...what's the purpose of wheel balancing..or that machine for that matter?

It balances your wheel and tells them how much weight to put on the wheel so it is balanced. The little things that stick out on each of your rims is really a weight .

basically, it detects where the wheel is heavier or lighter at certain spots so that weights could be put on the wheel to eliminate or minimize vibration.
