doesn't deflect...just shifts it.Where did you see/hear that it deflects? How the heck would it do that?
I have metallized tint film and picked up a highway patrol man from 1 mile away on a 4 lane road with high long rolling hills. I was also coming around a bend. My V1 has been unbelievable with the distance and situations that I have picked up radar.
V1 is the best radar detector I've ever used (Passport 7500, 8500, and 9500). My friend Had an 8500, moved to a 9500 and kept that for 2 weeks, sent it back and got a V1 and he has had the V1 ever since and said it was better than the others as well.
:werd: I've gotten a warning before a couple miles away.Saved my a$$ on the way to the golf course today. I picked him up from about 3/4 mile away facing the opposite direction as me doing instant on to people. I caught a Ka altert, 3 dots for about 3 seconds. Caught another one a few seconds later, again 3 dots. By then I slowed down to 5 over and saw him sitting in the median less than 1/4 mile up the same road as described in my post above.
never heard of the srx...and that cant be legal that it jams his gun???imgoing to have to disagree with everyone saying v1 is the best. the srx is not just a detector but it jams the gun as well. we do a lot of these at work and the guy who installs them his brother in law is a cop and on a couple of occasions he has come out so we can test it and everytime it warns you way ahead of time and by the time he locks on his gun jams.
No issues. Just send it in and they will upgrade it. No issues when bought used if it is in great condition (which I don't see how it wouldn't be, its not like it is handled on a daily basis).Any issues with upgrading software blah blah blah??? What issues does one have to deal with when buying a used one?
You want a pretty detector? I think it looks "hardcore" in a way.Too bad the V1 looks like it was designed (styled) by an Engineer and not a Designer, over 15 years ago... because it was.
Even Chris Bangle could make it look better looking. :eeps:
And then what are you going to do about it?
Yes. It is called hardwiring. Do a search. And NO it doesn't mute music . And it has a volume knob dude, so it gets pretty loud if you want it to.is there a way to install this without plugging it in the cigarette lighter and does it have to be mounted on the dashboard??? How loud is it when it warns you and does it mute music??
i have a hardwired 8500, and it works good... the only thing (or at least in ohio) is the cops dont run constant radar-they will switch it on and off when they please (my blinding xenon lights done help). 4 out of 5 times i got shot by radar this week they just flipped the switch and hit me when i was 20-30 feet in front of me in the dark, the one time the cop used constant radar i got him over a mile away. btw i drive 45 mins to work everyday and am garenteed to get "hit" once a day
also how are they with upgrading your software if you buy it used/ebay. i know passport frowns on that alot
ok but sometimes the cop doesnt get a clean shot at the vehicle and it comes up undetectable, it doesnt mean the officer knows you have a jammer. If a bunch of times on the same route he/she hits you and it gets jammed then somethings up lol otherwise its not that conspicuous
Well a cop does'nt need any specific reason to pull you over, one quick peek through the drivers window as I am taking your documents and I will spot that thing dangling from the window. And then what are you going to do about it?
You do not deflect radar signals, unless you have more than one battery in your car, an extra high voltage generator and a special equipment to protect you against micro wavesdeflecting radar is illegal in any state due to federal statutes.
Doesn't matter if you see it dangling over my window, which you won't unless you stick your head in all the way. And even if you did see it, what are you going do to, write me a ticket for having one? Detectors are only illegal in 5 states: DC, IL, NY, MN, VA.Well a cop does'nt need any specific reason to pull you over, one quick peek through the drivers window as I am taking your documents and I will spot that thing dangling from the window.
Dont know specific law, but heard of a dude from our car club with a radar/laser jammer getting a slap on the wrist.
