Hi im looking for the best brake pads that isnt expensive for my 2001 bmw e46. I would appreciate all your guys suggestions. Its just for daily street driving and isnt thinking about buyin expensive upgrades or anything but if the cost is reasonable for the performance of the pad i will. and also a good rotor or brake kits I can buy online? but mainly just need a brake pad to save money. Thanks in advance...

You will get many answers... I like Ceramic pads for daily driving because they produce less brake dust

For your car:

Rear -
TRW Black TPC0683 Premium Ceramic Rear Disc Brake Pad Set for select BMW 3, 5, and 7 series

Front
TRW TPC0946 Premium Ceramic Front Disc Brake Pad Set for select BMW 3 series, M3, X3 and Z4 models

Front and rear pads for $80 combined on Amazon..great reviews. Make sure they fit your model.. I would still replace rotors - otherwise you might get a pulse when you apply the brakes.

Textar pads are generally the best "all around", they have the least customer complaints here.

The stoptech lines are a good bargain. With any brake line, Coated lines and DOT approval are a must.

Wagner Thermoquiet Ceramic or PBR Ceramic with Zimmerman Rotors for me.Haven't replaced lines on my fleet yet .
Just n case u need Calipers? I went with Centric from FCP $50 WITH lifetime warranty .
Went with the Wagner's cause of Adavnce Auto 25% discount , wheels are clean. Great fit, quiet and I can't tell the difference with running stock pads for my use.PBR Axxiss deluxe with Balo rotors used to be my go to combo except they are not available from my sources.
Hope this helps .

Textar, as Don said. OE compound--Jurid and Pagid acceptable alternatives. Blank rotors--I've used Balo, but whatever fcp has without cute slots and holes.

$10 gets you a micrometer to measure if your rotors can go another set of pads...they usually can. Do you have your brake warning light on now? If you, you probably have a good 1,000 miles before the pads hit the rotor and destroys it, as well as preventing you from stopping.

OE compound only. Don't mess around with brakes...BMW did that for you already...they didn't forget the brakes.

You don't care about dust, or color calipers, or tracking once a year...you want OE compound to stop in heat and cold, rain and snow, hail, for cows, ducks, antelopes, or polar bears.

Don't argue with me today...I troll professionally now. :)

I appreciate everyone’s answers, im not changing rotors for now and no I dont have a brake light warning, its just that the car is not ran for 2 years and now its running and the brakes feels weak and rear squeeks a lot and i thought brake pads could remove that squeek, do i have to change the sensor for every brake pad change?? And how many sensors do I have to buy? Im going with textar pads btw. I appreciate you guys so much!

Zimmerman rotors & textar pads are my favorite combo. I put that combo on my m3 and it is perfect for the street. Trq is junk. I have them on my 550i and they started squeaking after a couple high speed stops. Have about 12k miles on them, plenty of life left but nonstop squeeking.
If your rotors have a nice sized lip on the edge it’s time to replace. Or if they look “glazed” or warped you might want to replace them

Personally, I can't justify sending stuff back to FCP when it's, by definition, consumable (pads, wipers, fluids, etc). I've bought plenty of stuff for my BMW and my Audi from FCP and I've sent more than a couple things back - but nothing that by its very nature is supposed to wear out. If you get a multiple of five-digits of miles out of a set of pads, you got your money's worth. FCP's pricing is pretty good - we shouldn't run them out of business by sending back stuff that you wouldn't even think of it from another seller.

brakeperformance.com
Brake Perfomance is where I purchase all my brake components. I too use only ceramic pads, WAY less brake dust, and also upgraded to drilled/slotted rotors. With Brake Performance the costs are minimal and so far (4 four vehicles and MANY miles) I have had zero problems with any of their products. I use them on my 4Runner, Tundra, BMW, Highlander, and God Daughters Honda.
Just my two cents worth.

Low dust, semi-metallic.

Your question is very open-ended, just so you know. Go down to the corner and buy a set of brakes from the auto parts store. Tell them your desire is low dust. Dusty brakes are cheap, the low-dust brakes are a little more. HINT: Go to AutoZone and buy brakes that qualify for the Lifetime Warranty, when they wear out and if you still own the car, you can get more brakes for free.

(If you were looking for high performance parts, my answer would be different, but you seem happy with factory fitment, and AutoZone can fill the bill.)

Go to rockauto.com. Put in your car. There are many pads androtors to chose from. Take the models that you are interested in and do some research on the web. I ended up with ACDelco professional grade rotors and wagner thermoquiet cermanic pads (they have a two year warranty and they create less dust).

For my daily driver e46, I have been happy with Centric PosiQuiet brake pads all the way around. Initial grab when wet is a little questionable, but that will be the case with most any pad and I think is more a function of rotor holes or slots.

BMW branded pads used to be really dirty and wear out quickly, so I never used them as replacements on my e36s and e46s. The pads that came on my wife's 2013 e93 seem fine though.
