What do you recommend putting on the lugs and/or the lug nut holes when changing the tires to prevent rusting, etc.

I used WD-40 before and had one of the lugs come off during driving.
Anyone actually use WD-40 for this?

Do not put anything on the threads. The torque spec is for clean, dry threads.

Talked to a mechanic at the local BMW dealership they put on this high heat grease adhesive. He said even oil would work. WD-40 is fine, but tighten the lugs good. Murray's Im sure has some stuff, he recommended some stuff in a "silver can".

In regards to rust around the lugs/wheel area-- said was normal.
