I know this has been covered several times. I am still confused.

I have a 2000 323i sedan.

If I go to 18 x 8.5 BBS PKs and want to go as large as 235/40/18
what's the best offset to avoid rubbing. I have stock suspension now and will probably not go any lower than the Dinan suspension.

Is it better to go with a different offset front and rear?
How will a higher offset, 35 vs 44 show in the rim lip?

Thanks, Pat

I don't have the answer to all of your questions but I can tell you that you should get an offset of 38 or higher to avoid rubbing with a 235/40/18 tire.

Someone on this board has a 35 offset with the 235/40/18 tires and he is rubbing . . .

Offset wont necessarily matter to acommodate the 235/40R18 size.. Typically a 32-40 mm offset will allow you to use that size all around. Call me if I can help!
