Any oil forum eg BITOG or NORIA has hundreds of UOA's where it's easy to spot who's using a Krap & Nasty, in fact they are the standing joke on oil forums and most international BMW forums as the only brand of 'filter', you can pick from UOA results. Particularly sad when you can buy filters that filter 100 times beter, better airflow, better built, no oil to screw the MAF, and don't look like they were built by your grandma in her kitchen, oh and cheaper and U.S built. The classic case of superb marketing over performance.

bemywhip I'll put money on it that you've never read a UOA in your life, in fact you have no idea what a UOA is? And yes I did own Krap & Nasty, it was on the car when purchased. It went in the bin where all Krap & Nasty should be unless your using them on a racing engine that's rebuilt regularly which is what they were originally designed for. They sure don't belong on a street engine!

And now I know why Krap & Nasty are so successful, there are mywhippingboys everywhere. Your the kind of BMW owner that uses M1 5W30 and doesn't understand why it doesn't meet spec. Some people just
shouldn't be allowed out, let alone drive a BMW.:banghead:

dbrown UOA's are not statistics they are tests that dirt (SI) levels in oil amongst many other things and Krap & Nasty 'filtered' engines are always the worst. You can buy much better filters for less money, seriously what part of that don't you understand? :banghead:

"most people could not care less". Correct and Krap & Nasty successfully empty another persons wallet. Obviously some people have more money than sense. I work hard for my money, and spend it a little more wisely, as do the rest of the people in our BMW club..

High SI readings are a failure of the filtration system in any UOA. 9 times out of 10, if you see high SI, you can almost guarantee they are using a Krap & Nasty. Add in the initial expense and the ongoing maintenance and the technically aware know there are far better solutions. It's like putting M1
5W30 in your non-M E46, most owners know it doesn't come close to meeting spec (to thin and HTHS way to low), but some are just oblivious. Takes all kinds I guess?

I can post as many UOA's as you want, will you know how to read them? Krap & Nasty 'filters', and I use the term loosely, have had a poor reputation for many years on most technically aware automotive forums. Have a think about what they were designed for?

very old thread. don't worry about K&N filters causing issues. long time over hyped myth.
with that said, BMC is none of the best filters for performance and filtration. Now if you live in a dust bowl maybe stick with stock paper filter. if performance and lifetime use, BMC is plenty fine.
You obviously haven't read many UOA's from Krap & Nasty equipped engines.............:banghead:
