For my 2002 m3. All my research says it is 433MHz. I do not have the ir version and my build code does not denote a 315MHz according to Realoem.
I am told that my key has the integrated transponder in its pcb.
I have bought a 433 version off eBay that has separate transponder chip and cannot get the remote to sync using the 2 ways I found by searching. The original synced ok both ways.

The eBay seller has asked me what my remote frequency is.

I believe you can switch those aftermarket keys between frequencies through a combination of button presses. I've never had to do it so I don't recall the magic combination. Maybe you can find the steps online and just give it a try through trial and error.

Quick google and the swap is done by holding the unlock down and pressing the boot release 5 times. Key was not sold as dual frequency, but tried it on car and it works!
Everything I could find says E46 M3 is 433. If it has build code ‘S876A = Yes’, it is meant to be 315. My build does not have this as far as all the VIN checks I have done.
