I'm gonna claybar and then wax with meguires three step. I heard its best to wash the car first with liquid dish soap to take off the wax, is this legit?

make sure to wax the molding and try to get in all those cracks also try to pile the wax on in the door handles jk but the dishsoap and wax is your best bet

Also, make sure to lube up the area that you are about to clay...I got some of the bar stuck in a little spot, but got it off. Its very sticky and will get on your car easier than you think.

And yes, using something like dawn will remove all the wax. My paint felt incredibly rough after I washed it w/ dawn.

Wash w/ dawn (maybe 2x if you have a lot of wax)->clay->wash normally->wax

alright cool, thanks guys. yeah, i neglected to wax the car over the summer and feel that since the winter season is here that also means the road salts and sands are coming soon. Dont want to ruin my paint. If its a good day tomorrow i'll post some pics.
