I'm looking to spend around $30k.

I do not want just some stock car.

There must be aluminum/titanium interior trim.

There must be clear lights all the way around.

The car must have been meticulously maintained.

Premium and Sport packages would be nice. 2001 with less than 30k miles would be nice.

I think $ 30,000 for a base 2001 330ci w/out prem/sport package is about reasonable, however, you probably would not find many 2001 330ci w/o prem/sport out there.

In my opinion and from what I've gathered, generally 2001 330ci with sport and prem go for around $32,500 +. Occasionally, you may be able to pick up a 2001 for less, but that's like once in a blue moon.

You cannot gauge your selling price of your car from KBB. The prices in KBB are always over inflated. I can't recall anyone of my friends that has been able to sell their cars for KBB prices. Please bear in mind that seasonal times and geographical locations affect the selling price of any used car.

That's just my opinion.

Thank you for your very vaulable and clear insight.

I did say AROUND $30k.

The 330ci's I have been looking at are anywhere from $32-$34k and have Automatic, Sport & Premium packages, Aluminum Trim, Premium wheels, Sound, A few Mods, etc.

That is about right. So that is what I am looking for.

From what I have been researching, for the same price, you can find a 1999 maybe 2000 M3, 1999 maybe 2000 CLK430.

About 7 months ago, I was in the market for a 1999 E36 M3. From what I researched, the prices for '99 M3 at that time were around $33,000. I think now you may find the prices are $ 30k or less. Maybe the ballpark would be around $ 26k - $ 29K.

That's my opinion.

Thanks RBlade. Great posts!

Would you prefer to own a 2000 M3 or a 2001 330ci with mods or a Mercedes CLK?

Seems like all these cars are in the $30's.

I am looking to spend up to $35k.

I think the 99-00 M3 is a classic car. For around $ 35K, you should be able to buy a nice M. I know for 35K, you would probably not be able to by the CLK430, maybe the CLK 320.

If you were to buy the M3, I would advise you to buy the vehicle with a BMW certified extended 7yrs 100,000 warranty.

This way you can be assured that if anything goes wrong the M3, it would be covered under the warranty.

My preference would be to buy the M car. I like the MB, M3 and the 330ci, however, owning an M car is in a league of it's own.

That's just my opinion.

Sorry to burst the bubble guys, but there are no 2000 M3 Coupes out there :tsk:
Very few convertibles made in 2000, but no coupes.

BTW- If you want a sedan, I have a loaded 330 with 20K miles and 18" wheels for sale....... Only if you want a 5-spd though.
