Did you transfer the magnetic piece from the old one and glue it in place on the new plastic one?

There is a small magnetic piece that interacts with the hall sensors on the drivers side plastic piece.

That's probably your issue.

If you still have your original parts, you can get the magnets (should be two magnets, one on each side to limit the travel) out and re-glue it in place on the new plastic part.

If you're gotten rid of the old parts already, you should be able to measure the size of the hole in your new plastic part and order a neodymium magnet of that size on ebay and glue it in. The size is pretty small, so new magnets should be very cheap. I already re-assembled my top, so I can't measure the size of my magnets.

Anyone reading have a spare or old part to take measurements off of?

No, don't cut to size. Those magnets are extremely brittle and will shatter.
Just measure the size of the recess in the plastic piece and order the correct size.
I'd use a pair of these if you don't already own them. These are indispensable for getting good measurements:

Make sure to get the 20 percent coupon on their website before you go to the store.

These might be small enough but these are round, not square like you need : https://www.harborfreight.com/10-piece-rare-earth-magnets-67488.html
They might fit sideways. You only need them to be in the right spots to trip the hall sensor. Maybe fill the void entirely with epoxy and glue them directly on top of the void.

Here are some 3mm square from china on ebay. Very inexpensive, but I do not know the size of the recess, so this is a guess. https://www.ebay.com/itm/100pcs-N35-Super-Strong-3x3x3mm-Square-Neodymium-Magnets-Rare-Earth-Disc-Magnet/352519615733?hash=item5213ce74f5:g:YocAAOSwsTJcdt5w
