Hi, I've started noticing a loping feeling while idling in my '05 325Ci. Can't really hear anything, but the car feels like it's shaking. And the shakes usually happen one at a time, in a random pattern. I can see minor fluctuations of the tach when its happening, maybe 100-200 rpm.

Last weekend, I had pulled into a drive-through after a 120 mile run, and as I was sitting there, the engine loped and tried to die on me. A couple of healthy throttle blips saved the day. This doesn't happen happen under power. Car runs great, got 30 mpg on the trip. Over the past year, I've replaced the CCV & cleaned the injectors while I had the intake off (last December), replaced plugs (last month) and virtually every oil-sealing gasket on the top of the engine.. Engine not tripping the CEL, even when it almost died.

Could this be the start of a VANOS issue? Something else?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Did that and the DISA when I did the CCV in December, but I looked up the symptoms of a dirty/failing ICV, and you're spot on!
Guess I'll be getting dirty again this weekend!

I'll check out your channel & blog. Started my professional life in Birmingham!
