According to this site, the Escort's are much, much better than the V1's. This site seems pretty unbiased and professional, and they offer a lot of information on how they tested each radar.

I hear a lot of hype about V1s on this forum. Does anyone here have any personal experience on using both? Which one did you think was better?

i use the 8500, when there is a cop sniping people it always catches it around the bend
I found the V1 to be 1ugly 2confusing 3annoying
---the arrows didn't help me at all

As with any radar detector you can't expect it to save your @ss it is merely a tool for you to use - Many things send off beams that it picks up, but if you're not a bannana head it helps a lot

Read these 3 threads.. My take is that the Arrows and Bogey Counters are worth it for the V1.. read the last thread and you'll see!!

Radartest is not an unbiased organization. They sell their data to companies to use. They approached Valentine about selling them test data and they refused and ever since radartest has slammed them. If you check their data you will see that it's incorrect or misrepresented to slight the v1(such as weight or dimensions) I've had my V1 for 3yrs now and it has saved my ass too many times to count in that period. The only tickets i've had in the last 3yrs(2tix) were from airplanes that CHP uses here in cali. Get the V1, it's hands down the best.

what is with the resergence of radar detector questions in the past weeks? :dunno: maybe has something to do with people driving faster in the warm springtime...

8500 hands down, and a :search: would def. give u more than enough information to make a wise decision
