i am trying to understand the headlights.
i dont know why this is so hard for me to comprehend.
im gonna ask 1 question at a time.
thanks for being patient.

you have 3 light bulbs in each housing unit.

let's talk about the front LEFT side.
from left-to-right you have the parking light [aka turn signal], then the normal headlights, then (closest to the grill) you have the high beams.

please let me know if i'm right or wrong, i'm only guessing.

also, if you know a website with an idiot's guide to headlights, please post it.

You are 100% right. But to me, left side is the driver's side...

"as i look at the front of the car" left side.
so technically, i was wrong.
but now i know the answer, so, on to my next question!!

LoL, yes it still matters because...

from left-to-right you have the parking light [aka turn signal], then the normal headlights, then (closest to the grill) you have the high beams.

If it was the driver's side, from left to right, it would be high beam, low beam, then parking/turn signal...

Anyway, moving on...

Here's the long and short explanation on headlights:

Let's look at this image:
Right to left.
Turn Signals - looks like he has clears, e.g. not orange, reflectors for his turn signals.
Immediately next to that - is the PROJECTOR also referred to as LOW BEAM.
Immediately next to that - is the REFLECTOR also referred to as the HIGH BEAM.

PROJECTORS = round eyeball type things.
REFELECTORS = concave reflecting mirror type things

In the case of this particular headlight, please look at the HIGH BEAM, note just below the hood line, there appears to be a HOLE in the headight. For argument (though it's actually lower down), let's call this the CITY LIGHT. It's a little 5W bulb that fits into there and lights up if you don't have DDE (which are the halos you see around his headlight).

Finally, DRL = aka Daytime Running Lights are what are run on the high beam side at lower than normal output.
