Here is where I wish I had kept better track of how the O2 sensor wiring had been laid out.

I think I good securing them up here?

Now I think it is time to prep the intake - build the new CCV on there and install the tubing for the O2 Pilot mod.

I hope I can remember all the connectors and their routing!

Awesome progress! And I love me some clean parts.

Don’t stress too much about the harness. Here is a checklist of it helps - I used it to make sure I didn’t forget a connector:

Connections

  1. Exhaust VANOS Solenoid
  2. Exhaust camshaft position sensor
  3. Thermostat heater
  4. Intake camshaft position sensor
  5. IAC
  6. Throttle
  7. Oil temp and pressure sensors
  8. Alternator
  9. Breather valve
  10. Knock sensors
  11. Crankshaft position sensor
  12. Oil level sensor
  13. Vacuum solenoid
  14. Injectors
  15. Intake temp sensor
  16. Intake VANOS solenoid
  17. DISA
  18. MAF

Thanks Mate! This is awesome.
I did not realize the M54 had an EGR system?

My mistake - I meant the breather valve, not EGR!
I would edit but the new forum software really sucks for editing. I am blocked.

@BaliDawg can you edit my list above - swap breather valve for EGR

This makes more sense, thank you!
I like that. I have a little Honda running a B18C1 engine, no EGR, variable valve timing, dual-pane intake, Lots of similarities to the M54. It does NOT have the goofy CCV to its credit! :)

PS: I can edit pretty easily if I go over to the R of the top of my post, there are 3 dots in a vertical row. It says "Site Navigation" if you hover over them. Click on the 3 dots and one option will be to edit your post.

Yeah I can edit, but I post a lot, and I am a bit manic about spelling and grammar, so I also do a bunch of minor edits. Site will only allow 10 posts to be edited every 7 days.

Prepping the intake - replace the gray rubber boot for the IAC. I never saw this when I replaced the CCV last time, so it feels good to replace this now. It still felt nice and pliable.

The lines for the secondary air injection system definitely looked aged:

Measure out the replacement lines and note the orientation of the check valve:

New components ready to go, once I get a little more cleaning on the intake:
