I have a 2004 318CI M-Sport (covered 18,000mls) which seems to have very twitchy steering unless the road is free of imperfections. It is fine on a good straight such as a motorway but it does not like painted lines lines and ridges and tends to follow or track them. Is this common? I have 18" wheels with Bridgestones 225 front and 255 rear.
Any responses appreciated, thanks.

I have it pretty bad. It is called Tramlining. A member here tweaked his swaybar settings (aftermarket swaybars) and says that it has NO tramlining. Search and see if you can find it, it was posted in the General E46 forum.
