I've searched the old threads, but haven't seen anything about how to remove the cupholder, am I missing something? In my cupholder, one of the spring-loaded "retainers" is stuck in it's indentation, and the only way I'm going to able to free it is by removing the cupholder (and I might need to remove it anyway if I put in the sliding tray ).

So, I've tried lift up on the front end where the "grips" are, but can't get it to budge. Tips?

On mine it just pulled up and right out. It was very easy. Maybe they changed it in 02+ models.

yeah same here '01 -- just pull up and it should pop~up v. easy !
